Following five years of tradition, Pittston City will get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit this weekend.

The Pittston City St. Patrick’s Parade steps off at noon Saturday, March 4.

The parade is the main event of a day filled with festivities.

The day will start at St. John the Evangelist Church with Mass at 9 a.m., followed by the return of the Leprechaun Loop 1-mile run at 11 a.m.

The family of this year’s grand marshal, the late Joe Keating, will lead the parade down Main Street and through downtown Pittston. Keating was Pittston’s fire chief for many years.

Roads in the downtown will be closed to traffic starting at 10 a.m. and will remain closed until the conclusion of the parade.
