Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance Association has announced its 2018 membership drive.

Letters were sent in the mail during the first week of January. The ambulance association wishes to thank all who have already responded and everyone for support during previous drives.

Greater Pittston Ambulance Association will have a representative at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman, from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. The representative will be there to accept memberships and answer any questions pertaining to the membership drive and ambulance service. Greater Pittston Ambulance provides service to the residents of Jenkins Twp.

Crime Watch run

Jenkins Twp. and Yatesville Borough Crime Watch groups are hosting their inaugural 4-mile run.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, May 5, the race will begin and end at the Pittston Area High School, 5 Stout St., Yatesville. There also is a 1-mile walk option at the high school.

The pre-registration fee is $15 until April 11. After this date, the registration fee is $20. The registration fee is non-refundable and a short sleeve T-shirt is included for the first 50 registrants. Race day registration is $25 and will be accepted from 8 to 8:45 a.m. The race will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 11.

Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners, as well as to the top three males and the top three females in the following divisions: 9 and younger, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-plus.

Checks can be made payable to Jenkins Twp./Yatesville Borough Crime Watch. Proceeds from this event will be used to help rebuild the honor roll memorial on East Saylor Avenue in Jenkins Twp.

Board of Supervisors and Recreation Board will sponsor a children’s Easter party from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at St. Joseph Marello Parish Center, 237 William St., Pittston. Veterans memorial

A committee is being formed to erect a veterans memorial monument in Jenkins Twp. A meeting to discuss this project is scheduled and all residents are invited.

The meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman.

Jenkins Twp. Little League registration

Jenkins Twp. Little League is accepting registrations for 2018. Children, ages 4-12 who reside within Jenkins, Inkerman, Yatesville and surrounding territories, are eligible to join.

Sign-ups are from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman. Online registrations also are being accepted at jenkinstwplittleleague.com until March 1.

Cost for majors, minors and coach pitch registration is $80, and $50 for tee ball.

There will be a free giveaway for all registrants.

New registrants must provide a birth certificate and proof of residence or school attendance. Also, boys and girls signing up must turn 4 before Sept. 1, 2018.

Jenkins Crime Watch news

Jenkins Twp. Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the municipal building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman.

Taxes mailed

County and municipal taxes bills were issued Feb. 12.

Jenkins Twp. Tax Collector Jean Mudlock will be collecting taxes at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. She will not have evening hours.

Pittston Twp. Tax Collector Rita Timonte will have office hours from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at her home office, 12 E. Oak St., Pittston Twp., until the end of the discount period.

Discount period ends April 11. Face period ends June 11 and the penalty phase ends Dec. 31.

Pittston Twp. meeting

The monthly meeting of the Pittston Twp. Supervisors is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the municipal building, 421 Broad St.

Pittston Twp. snow removal

Pittston Twp. wishes to remind its residents the placement of any portable basketball hoops, sports goals or stands on any township-owned roadway is prohibited between Nov. 1 and March 31. Township road maintenance trucks have been damaged during snow plowing operations due to collisions with these objects. If you have any of these objects on a township road, please remove it as soon as possible.

Jenkins refuse and recycling

The 2018 Jenkins Twp. refuse payments are past due. As of Feb. 1, a $10 late fee has been added. If payment is not made by May 31, all delinquent accounts will be sent a citation.

Jenkins Twp. meetings

Jenkins Twp. Board of Supervisors has rescheduled its regular monthly meeting. It will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the municipal building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman.

The 2018 monthly planning commission meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of every month.

The next planning commission meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at the municipal building.

Jenkins seniors

Jenkins Twp. Senior Citizens Organization usually schedules its meetings for the third Tuesday of each month, with some exceptions.

The organization will not meet in January or February. Therefore, the next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Jenkins Twp. Hose Company, 2 Second St.

All seniors in the area are invited to attend and new members are always welcome.
