Wyoming Area Elementary Schools will reopen Monday, Aug. 26. The district released the following information for the start of the year at the elementary schools:

Monday, Aug. 26, and Tuesday, Aug. 27, are early dismissal days. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m. Normal dismissal is at 3:35 p.m.

Breakfast and lunch program

Breakfast program will begin the first day. Lunch program will start the third day of school. All students who had free and reduced lunch last year will receive meals until Sept. 30. Parents who have not received a letter stating they have been approved for free/reduced meals via Direct Certification for the 2019-20 school year must submit a new application by Sept. 27. Breakfast will be served on all early dismissal days. Meal prices for 2019-20 for the elementary school are $1.55 for breakfast and $2.40 for lunch.

Classroom assignments

Due to confidentiality concerns, students’ and teachers’ names will not be published. Students will report to designated areas in their assigned building for teacher assignment. Teachers will guide the students as they enter their building.

Kindergarten

Wyoming Area has a full-day kindergarten program. All kindergarten students should wear the name tags received during the summer orientation building visits. Bus riders also will be wearing bus tags given on the first day of school. These tags should be worn the first two weeks.

Student arrival times are 8:35 to 8:55 a.m. at the Kindergarten Center, 50 Penn Ave., Exeter.

The area directly in front of the Kindergarten Center is for buses and school vans only. Students will enter the school through the main front door entrance and will be directed to their classrooms. Teachers and aides will be available to direct students to assigned areas. Parents are asked to say goodbye to their children at the entrance. Buses will drop off and pick up on Penn Avenue. Bus students are dismissed through the east doors of the school and are escorted to their buses. Parents may drop car riders on Memorial Street and walk them to the door.

After school, parents are asked to park on Memorial Street. Parents will proceed to the main entrance to meet their car riders. Parents are reminded they should not double park on Penn Avenue or Memorial Street. In addition, parents must follow all traffic/parking laws; do not park facing the wrong direction of traffic on any of the surrounding streets and be mindful of driveways.

Parents are asked to make every effort to notify the school in advance for changes in student dismissal. A note or phone call is best. Contact the school at least 25 minutes prior to the end of school day to notify the school of a change in transportation needs.

Primary Center

Student arrival times are 8:35 to 8:55 a.m. at 55 Tenth St., Wyoming.

For the first day of school,

grade one will report to the cafeteria for room assignments. Grades two and three will report to the gym for room assignments. Teachers and aides will be available to direct students to assigned areas. Parents are asked to say goodbye to their children at the entrance.

Parents transporting their children to school are to use the Tenth Street main entrance to enter the building. Tenth Street is one way from Dennison Street to Butler Avenue. All traffic coming east on Tenth Street toward the school from Monument Avenue will be required to make a right hand turn on to Butler Avenue. Cones and signs will be in place to help funnel traffic. The yellow curbed area directly in front of the school is reserved for students who will be exiting the car quickly. There are aides monitoring the front door to ensure that students enter the building and move to their assigned area. Any parent who requires additional time to drop off their child or who needs to enter the building for any reason, should park on Butler Street or Tenth Street across from the school. A crosswalk is available for students to cross the street to the school. In addition, parents must follow all traffic laws when dropping students off and not block the crosswalk or driveways.

At dismissal, grades one to three walkers will use the Dennison Street cafeteria doors. Parents are reminded they should not double park on Dennison Street or Clark Street. Follow all traffic/parking laws; do not park facing the wrong direction of traffic on any of the surrounding streets and be mindful of driveways.

All bus riders will arrive and depart through the back doors of the school at doors No. 1 and No. 3. Parents are not permitted to enter the rear of the school during arrival or dismissal.

Parents should make every effort to notify the school in advance for changes in student dismissal. A note or phone call is best. Contact the school at least 25 minutes prior to the end of school day to change transportation needs.

Intermediate Center

Student arrival times for the Intermediate Center are: 8:25 a.m., bus student arrival and bus breakfast program begins; 8:35 a.m., student arrival and breakfast program begins; 8:50 a.m., all students must report to their homeroom; 8:55 a.m., students arriving after this time are tardy ; 8:55 a.m., instruction begins.

Montgomery Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Wyoming Avenue to Warren Street. The front of the building will be used to pick up and drop off bus students only. Due to security protocol, all walkers, riders and bus students will enter and exit the school through the main doors. No students should enter anywhere else. Car riders can be dropped off at Warren Street and walk up the sidewalk to the main doors.

For the first day of school only, sixth grade students will report to the cafeteria, fifth grade students will report to the playground, weather permitting, and fourth grade students will report to the gymnasium. Student homeroom assignments will be given to them at that time.

Beginning the second day of school, student arrival times are 8:35 to 8:50 a.m. Any student transported by bus or car and all walkers must go directly to their homeroom between 8:35 and 8:50 a.m. All walkers may enter through the main entrance only. After the first day of school, all students will enter through the Montgomery Avenue entrance. Parents should not drop off or pick up students on Montgomery Avenue. Buses and school vans will pick up on Montgomery Avenue.

Procedure for dismissal: Montgomery Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Wyoming Avenue to Warren Street. The front of the building will be used to pick up bus students at the end of the day. All students will be dismissed through the main entrance. Parents are encouraged to wait before coming in front of school until busses depart from school. Parents are encouraged to use school-provided transportation to and from school.
